OP if you can tolerate very very long and dry anime, you might get a kick out of the original Legend of the Galactic Heroes on some level. It's chock full of incredibly stuffy Germanic military men who are bizarrely likeable on an individual level despite the Very Clear And Obvious Connotations Of Their Empire. Like... it is very noticeable that their army contains no women and everybody is white, but I do find their various personal traits - strangulated queer pining, extreme autistic dedication to his dog, being a fuckboy because his own genetics make him sad, loving his wife and telling everybody loudly, very clearly doing meth but it not getting animated to name but a few - remarkably humanising and fun to watch.
