Re: Vent
(Anonymous) 2022-06-10 04:52 am (UTC)(link)My period started some time around May 10 (mine's always been irregular but more like every one and a half to two months) ended May 17, I had covid symptoms on May 18, tested positive on May 19, and started bleeding again on May 20 and haven't stopped.
I'm almost 40 and a virgin so at least that rules pregnancy complications out, but argh.
I figured the doc would want me to come in, but I'm scared. I cried and flipped out prior to my first pap smear a couple years ago (luckily it didn't hurt much but I still hated it) and I imagine this will be more of the same.
And my mom had her first cancer scare at 40 and died in her mid 60s so yeah I'm freaking out.
Sadly I'm hopingit's just covid aftereffects because so many of the alternatives are so awful. I mean it's too soon to know if there's a covid equivalent of shingles and there is so fucking much misinfo and conjecture floating around about what it does do, so idk.
I'm glad I'm vaxxed and boosted because that seems to lessen not just acute infection but weird shit afterwards. I'd probably be totally exsanguinated by now otherwise.
And I started taking a multivitamin with iron yesterday because I'm vegetarian and worried about anemia, and my body seems to have responded by upping the supply of bloody ooze. Joy.

(Anonymous) 2022-06-10 07:36 am (UTC)(link)just to say I am NOT a medical professional and this is not pro advice but I just looked it up again and average age of first onset of symptoms is 40 to 44. Some are earlier, some are later. I started really noticing around...42, I think? It might not have anything to do with covid at all, and the timing is just a coincidence. And it's a pain to deal with but it's not as scary as the worst-case scenarios.

(Anonymous) 2022-06-10 11:07 am (UTC)(link)I'm sorry you had to deal with a monthlong period. Yuck.
