This is why I love being bisexual. If/when you get a Bridget dropped on you (or whatever) you just shrug and carry on rather than going OMG DOES THIS MEAN I'M GAY WHAT THE HECK ARGH and so on. Not that all people react that way of course but the latter seems to be the sort of response you're talking about.

I was under the impression that it was fandom secrets-- secrets people don't wish to share that fandom has induced. Secretes including characters they'd fornicate with if it were possible, regardless of gender.

I guess it takes time for people to get over their societally ingrained hang ups about sex and sexuality. *shrug* It seems like a huge shame to waste your time worrying about what you enjoy and who you're attracted to means for how people perceive you as an individual. Why not just enjoy who you are and what you like without shame or angst? At least these secret posters can admit it to themselves, even if they seem to angst unnecessarily over it... Whatever. I say life live and be as happy as you fucking can, who cares about image?

I think everyone takes it seriously, because it's srs biznes. Until we get to a place where sexuality isn't something to be upheld/hidden/defended/argued over/threatened by/etc, people are going to freak out when they're questioned on it. (shrug)
