If JEH had died I don't think the same thing would have happened as Ledger, though. Ledger already had a lot of notoriety when he died. JEH, as much as I love him, was just a no-name child actor who happened to have lucked out in recent years because he's amazingly talented. Had he died during the filming, I don't think anything would have changed.

That being said, even if Ledge had lived TDK would still probably be overhyped because TDK had a cast of A-listers and it's the fucking Batman. Watchmen had a less-renowned cast, and focused on a lesser-known comic book.

IAWTC. I'm glad you said it, because I was about to get really upset about the whole "TDK wouldn't have been as popular if Heath Ledger didn't die!" thing. He was the first celeb I was really a fan of, so I get a little crazy when people say things like the movie was only popular because of his death.

Definitely.

Watchmen might be known among geek/well-read circles and the like, but it does not nearly have the notoriety of Batman, who has had, say, television cartoons, movies after movies, etc.

Watchmen might be well-known to some extend but it's nowhere near as familiar to the general populace as, say, Batman, Spider-Man, X-Men, the Hulk, and the like.

Man that is so weird. Keeping the company I do, I guess I didn't really notice. Prolly doesn't help that I've heard about Batman and X-Men, etc. about as equally as much as I've heard about Watchmen.
