Huh, I always thought isekai meant general portal fantasy because the first time I heard it was in relation to Kyou Kara Maou. But since then I've only heard it in relation to harem-type manga/anime where the average male MC falls into an in-world fantasy land where he inexplicably attracts all the women.

No idea what isekai actually means, but I just realised that the latter is why I mentally write off every series that's described to me as isekai.
