Anyone know a good place to ask for tech advice for a cell phone? Like a subreddit or something? I have a cell with a smashed screen and desperately want to rescue photos etc off it.

No, but as someone who's done that, have you tried just... plugging the USB? Some models let you check the folders and you don't have to press anything on the screen for it or at least there's a combination of physical keys you can press to give the "OK" .

It's one of those models that requires you to turn on file sharing mode when you plug it in to a computer. That was my first thought. Thanks though.

Crap. Can't remember what I did back then, but my phone was one such model, maybe I had to press a combination of physical keys. Anyway, googling it might give you some results. Not sure about a community for that, though. Best of luck!

i take it it doesn't automatically back up your photos? google does for me is why im asking. not assuming you're clueless just covering the bases

In addition to the subreddits, I recommend the forums on something like Tom's guide or AND check YouTube to see if anyone has had similar issues and hopefully you find a video!
