Re: Secrets you don't want to make...

AYRT - In Genshin these obscene sums of money are spent on banners, seeing as there isn't a lot else you can do with it that you wouldn't be able to do in due time as a free player. (maybe skins but none were released in the past few months.) In other words, you COULD spend money on, say, items for raising your level, skills, etc but you can do all of that for free anyway if you're playing that often. You can get a "monthly subscription" for $10, or $20 if you are feeling particularly adventurous and want to get EVERY prize. And this is how much Genshin items usually cost. I suppose this is why it got very popular actually - you don't have to spend to get new maps (or even characters), individuals don't get to spend huge sums and its prices are often... fair. I never spent on it and I've been playing in-and-out for less than a year as a working adult and have pretty much everything I want (in terms of characters, good weapons/artifacts etc.) anyway.
So yeah, like the other anon said, it's just not how people think it is. There are far worse (and more addictive/costly) games that follow the "gacha" model. This amount (roughly 2 years worth of my pay) sounds crazy to me.
