Re: Roe v. Wade thread.

Holy fuck, I just found out my mother is pro-choice at least in the sense of thinking abortion should be legal. She was pushing me to tell her why I was so off, and I finally said it was the Supreme Court decision and I didn't want to talk about it. And said she totally gets it and thinks it was the wrong decision. Wow.

My parents have always been anti-abortion. At least with my dad it has always been a think he makes a big deal out of. So I guess mom and I won't actually talk about it. But nice to know that at least she understands a little of why this is bad.

That must be a huge relief.

even my super catholic friend who is like "those who have sex should think of the consequences" says that this is absolute bullshit, especially the full out bans, with no exceptions for criminal or medical reasons.

Honestly, good for your friend for recognizing that. I suspect there's a lot of people who like to argue "abortion BAD", but only when it's "those awful irresponsible sluts who don't want to own up to their bad choices", and not the far more realistic "actual human beings making a personal medical decision". Any time we can bring the conversation back to reality over the inflammatory myths, it does help.
