As someone who struggled through book 4 before giving up, you're better off.

The thing is, before Martin, that was never a worry for me. If the cover said it was part of a trilogy, then you got a trilogy. Books might end up late, sometimes, but it was never for years on end.

You're right. I should have said something like "Most of the time." I feel it didn't happen as often back then as it seems like it does now, but it did happen.

And every so often, a rumor goes out that she's finally finishing it, it's finally being released and.... nothing. :/


( I mean, I get it, mental breakdowns are extremely debilitating, and when it's during a work in progress, it can be hard to go back to that work and finish it.)

That was a good choice. I don't regret reading them, but I definitely regret all the time and energy I put into liking them now that the story won't get a real ending. I think if I were to do it all over again I wouldn't read them.

I stopped after the first one because I just didn't like it. The show I enjoyed until the last couple seasons.

I understand this, I've felt this for other work, but not this one. I think this one is actually okay unfinished.

I like that it's unfinished and I like the place it's unfinished at. Why? I think it's going to be a badly unedited ending no matter what, and I simply don't think he's thoughtful enough to have a coherent theme.

By the time I got around to reading that series, book 5 was out in hardcover.

Wasn't going to hold my breath for book 6 or book 7, so I personally considered it finished at 5 books and moved on. I did that too long for Melanie Rawn's next Ruins of Ambrai book and learned my lesson.
