Ah yes, I too like to pretend that the character is just wake up like that, is not affected by sweat, and some how those curls and volume are always on point (as a person with natural hair). But we all know it's just an amazing stylist T.T or wig. Shout out to all the fic writers who have their OCs as curly headed (of different textures) characters! And actually write a bit of the process into it -- like no, MC is not running his hand through her hair lol

Yeah. I love the Discworld books, but if you don't care for Pratchett's writing style... well, that's it, then. You can't escape it, it's part of the total package. I can't even mentally separate his humor from his writing style, they're so bound up in one another.

I think about this when watching TV and movies, too! I also have curly hair, too, and not only that, but it's also really thick. Other people manage to make their thick, curly hair look cute, while mine often looks like I stuck my finger in an electric socket, LOL. Or it looks really limp and blah. I'm not well versed in how to style hair at all, but I feel like it's something I should learn.

Same, same. I've been reading fantasy for decades and so everyone just assumes I've read his books and... no, sorry, I tried. I can't get through his writing style. I'm sure they're good books! I just... don't gel with the writing style. People get so affronted by this.

When I first played Bugsnax, I was just expecting a cute game about catching fictional snack monsters. Maybe some mild nightmarish elements the end of the debut trailer implied, but nothing I'd lose sleep over (and presumably only scary to, say, like little kids).

...I honestly did not expect the absolute WHAT THE FUCKERY of the plot twist, let along the goddamn in-universe conspiracy. Like what the hell, Bugsnax? What the everlasting HELL?

Hmm... nowadays I straighten my hair so I don't have to deal with the hardships of having curly hair (don't have time for that anymore) but, while standards set by TV are obviously always going to be crazy standards, I know now that it's not that curly hair is ridiculously hard to take care of, it's more that the correct products aren't as widely available as they should be and we keep insisting on the wrong products and routines.
