Somehow reading Satanism into a happy wedding on a boat with a rainbow and mermaids is something else. Nobody, including actual Satanists, is as obsessed with Satan as fundamentalist Christians. What an exhausting way to live.

It is a new one for me, and I grew up around fundamentalist Christians. This is pretty extreme even for the fundamentalists.

And yes, fundamentalists are weirdly obsessed with Satan and demons.

My favorite part of the secret is how OP mentions that their grandparents worried about the effect Disney would have on their critical thinking skills. Yes, OP's critical thinking skills are clearly the ones to be concerned about here, and not, y'know, the people who actually believe this scene from The Little Mermaid was mocking the story of Noah's Ark and Christians in general.

*Shakes head* Truly, I cannot imagine living with that kind of thought process. I echo the others, OP, I'm glad you were able to get away from that mindset and follow your own path.

Yep. The day to day struggle of having a deeply evangelical mother where everything somehow, someway, can be tied in to the devil or the rapture or any other number of things!

Most Satanists are having as much fun as they possibly can get out of their lives while simultaneously working hard to survive. They're atheists so they don't really believe in or worship Satan. Fundie Xians got it wrong again.
