I'm with you OP, I'd take Metatron over Ketch any day. And Metratron was actually quite interesting considering one of the main theme of the overall show with the importance of storytelling (and free will). Curtis Amstrong seems like a good and fun person from what I know of him, so it helps too. I don't think Metatron was the most hated character, however. Many fans, me included, were happy with his redemption arc.
