Agreed on Vanya's arcs in S1 and S2 being plenty of build-up-- I'm only a few episodes into S3 right now myself, and I was terrified that them going with an alternate universe would mean original Vanya dying and then the crew finding a Viktor who was already established. I'm much happier that it's the same character, even if I think there should have been about twice as much dialogue about it to establish the transition, things are already so fuckin' weird with the Umbrella Academy I can also accept that the other sibs just let it slide with very little fuss.
