On a similar note, when I'm looking at houses and see one with a really charming exterior and it was built like pre-1910...and then look at the inside pictures and every room has been entirely remodeled into white/beige walls and gray floors and just the most boring cookie cutter 'modern' interior design.

Ugh, yes. I don't know if this is still going on, but all the gray/black vinyl plank floors and white walls/gray walls is depressing the hell out of me. White painted kitchen cabinets just seem so impractical. As for bathrooms, not everything has to be done in white subway tile, people.
