My biggest problem with FFnet is that as far as I can tell, it doesn’t have a way of distinguishing complete vs. incomplete fics.

It does! The problem is that it was a feature introduced late so a lot of older fic won't be marked complete as that would require their authors going back and marking them as such.

I didn’t know this! I am going to try to log into my account and mark all my old stuff there. I think I only have a handful there that escaped the adult content culling and for a couple years I exclusively posted on LJ until I got my invite code for AO3.
