Re: What are your non-fandom hobbies?
(Anonymous) 2022-07-22 06:13 am (UTC)(link)Clothes sorting/shopping; just got into dressing myself more fashionable/with more thought late last year. I'm a slow learner/poor, and I tend to go for cheaper clothes/2nd hand shopping, so my style evolution is a slow one.
Used to just buy comfy t-shirts (mostly fandom shirts) and jeans/sweats with a couple more "out there" pieces and just sort of dress around that.
I still wear jeans and tees but I put a lot more thought into how my jeans fit me and I sort of hate t-shirts now. They're comfy but I can never find a top that is what I'm looking for: mostly simple, long enough to cover my arms (an insecure area for me) comfortable (most are too short/tight and have a tendency to roll up; I also feel 3/4 sleeve tops are hard to find and sometimes I hate the look/feel of it on me...can't explain it lol), a shirt that isn't too long or too short (being plus size with an average torso makes this so fucking hard)
I think I can rant about every clothing item ever. LOL
It's been fun to think about my body shape and what sort of clothes and styles would best compliment features I like about my body. Found some fun YT videos on fashion and dressing for your body type a couple months ago, I think that's what has made this fun.
Skincare? I've got my routine down OK. Currently shopping for a daily face moisturizer. Have my toner and serum, have a couple sunscreens I like, have a night cream, but my face is feeling drier now so I think I need a daily face cream, toner and serum alone aren't enough. I don't do face/sheet masks as much anymore (wish I had time everyday to dedicate to moisturizing with a sheet mask tbh; is a nice relaxing 20~ minutes where I completely focus on miosturizing my body and face). I don't have great skin (far from) but it does feel nice and I don't break out as much as I used to (being in your 30s and still breaking out 😭), and people often tell me I look young (but I think a lot of that is genetics more than my skincare routine)

(Anonymous) 2022-07-22 06:46 am (UTC)(link)As someone who went on birth control for adult acne, and just tried going off of it for the first time in a decade, I feel you. It's like night and day. On BC my skin is completely clear, but off BC it's far worse now than it ever was in my teens or twenties. My whole chin and jaw is bumpy and sore. Went back on the BC a month ago and it's starting to clear up again, thank god.
I'm a skincare person too, though lately I haven't been using much, since I'm breaking out like crazy and meanwhile my skin is also hella sensitized from tretinoin, which I started in November (good lord the burn-in period on tret is long). I was really hoping the tret would keep the acne under control, but lol not even close.
What SPF are you using? Finding a good SPF is a challenge and a half, istg.

(Anonymous) 2022-07-22 08:20 am (UTC)(link)I've thought of going on BC for skincare reasons LOL but I'm not sexually active nor is my menstrual cycle irregular so I don't have a reason to go on BC.

This a Japanese brand I really like, it's really moisturizing. Ideal for dry skin. Sinks into skin but it's watery so I need a few moments to let it absorb.

This is a Korean brand I use. It leaves a very matte, soft finish. I haven't used it as much lately because my skin is dry so it leaves my cheeks feeling dry after a couple hours. Absorbs into skin fast and IIRC doesn't leave a white cast.

*shrug* I'm ace and my periods have always been painless and regular. I mean, it's 100% up to the individual, and I respect that. I'm just saying, adult acne is the only reason I'm taking it, and it's as legitimate a reason as any.
