I think Angel would also fit this, more or less (from BtVS/AtS)

I used to love Roswell, but particularly scenes like that. Damn I need to rewatch that show.

OP - I didn't watch any of it (the original series, for the record, not the CW remake) until I was mid-twenties, so I was a little late to get properly into it. But I still have a bit of a soft spot for it, at least in concept. And that opening scene just fucking gets me, good god. I will never be able to hear High by Sarah Mac-howthefuckdoyouspellhername without being immediate transported to that scene and how much I love it. XD

Oh man I haven't thought about Roswell in forever... but reading this I am nodding along like, yep yep, I am here for that, lol.

Yay, it's not just me!

I will admit, I do really wish Liz didn't just stand there gaping like a moron until the gun went off, though. Like, I know that it's realistic for people to freeze in that kind of situation, but in fiction we get to decide how our characters react, and I would've loved the scene even more if she'd gotten shot because she'd been trying to protect a kid or something. Because then you get a great, proactive bit of characterization for the character who needs saving, and you get the deliciousness of the mysterious, quiet character risking it all to save her because lurrrve. So BOTH characters get to be proactive and cool. That would take this trope from "Yes I Love It" to "BURY ME WITH IT."
