That also has some skeevy undertones tbh. Women as romantically and sexually desirable while men aren't is an old heteronormative and patriarchal trope.

That really is a stretch, when dealing with a character who is the same essence passed through several bodies...individual attractions are not saying others are undesirable, as a whole.

Nayrt - I don't know if that holds up though, the avatar isn't the same person even if they are connected to the previous avatars. Aang very famously went against every single previous avatar he could get his hands on & his predecessor was very unlike him. It doesn't really make sense to me that romantic attraction would be the thing that carries over when personality can vary so wildly.

I don't agree it's particularly patriarchial whatever-anon-said, I just don't think it's a good explanation.
