I did clarify above that I don't consider Kinn to be Always Right until post-side story but I'm also just gonna be honest that I ended up pretty much hating the main pairing of the show and much, much more invested in the main characters.

But screw that. Porsche had no idea that his brother fell in love, got his heartbroken, stopped playing music and ditched his universe entrance exam thus never getting into university (what does Porsche think he's doing?!) and I don't care about his bigger issues that's his baby brother who was his main priority and the ONLY reason he took the job as a bodyguard in the first place and the destruction of their relationship is something I will not forgive the show for.

You do not have to exchange family for romance and turning Porsche's relationship with his brother into a surface level barely there relationship was a crime.

It's obvious that you didn't pay attention to the main pairing at all. Almost every part of their interaction went over your head.

Yes, the only reason Porsche took the job as bodyguard in the first place was to keep Chay physically safe, in their house, and with the opportunity to get into college. These things would NOT have happened if he didn't take the job. And guess what, they wouldn't have happened if he didn't DO the job either. He had to live in the compound, no phones, no electronic devices of any kind unless out on a mission. The MINUTE Porsche gets time away from his duties, he immediately goes home to Chay. The next time he even gets an opportunity is when he and Chay move into the compound. By then, unless Chay explicitly tells Porsche what's going on, Porsche is going to assume Chay is being weird about Porsche not only working for the mafia, but also dating the boss. Porsche isn't a mind reader.

Porsche explicitly asks for Chay's permission to care about both Chay AND Kinn, when Chay expresses his concerns about Porsche being in the mafia. There was no exchange. There was an addition. And when Porsche left, he took the most important thing with him: Chay.

And he never noticed that his brother had his heartbroken and stopped playing music and didn't go to university.

I won't argue about the main pairing, I found them too fluffy for my taste in a mafia show and that the problematic parts were painted over with high heat and quick forgiveness rather than facing down the inherent power dynamics but I also get that a lot of people didn't see it that way and I typically don't talk about them for that reason.

But the fact that Chay chose to pretend to be happy for his brother and Porsche never noticed, not even when they were playing happy family at his parent's home, is not something I am going to forgive the show for. Yes, Porsche went through the motions of taking care of Chay but those motions aren't what I was hoping for from him.

Porsche protecting Chay is the bare minimum. Porsche not realizing his brother's heart had been broken because Chay faked smiling at breakfast? That's not.

I'm starting to get the feeling that you're a butthurt novel fan....

Nerve read the novel. Never even considered it. Just someone who wished I could love the main couple but didn't and haven't learned to shut my mouth well enough.
