I'm so sick of Bleach fandom whining about her Stockholm Syndrome. You'd think the fanbrats just found out the definition of the word, for christ's sake.

There were hints all the way leading up to this recent chapter that Ulquiorra was going to be redeemed, and it was because of his unending fascination and interest in Orihime. He was not a psychopathic torturer; he truly tried to understand her, as much as someone without a heart possibly could. Yeah he put a hole in (who he thought was) her boyfriend's chest, but he did it because he was trying to show the heart made people weak. Internally, though, I'm sure he wanted her to prove to him the opposite.

I don't know about others, but I don't care about Ulquiorra - I care about Orihime and Ichigo being utterly irrational. I'm sure Kubo (or whoever thought this up) could've found a way to redeem Ulq without having to character rape both Ichigo and Orihime in the process.

Okay, I'll give you that one about Ichigo. He was pretty damn stupid in the last chapter. Ishida's sitting there hand-less and skewered, and Ichigo's saying to Ulquiorra, "Tear off my arm and my leg!"...

But Orihime's change of heart toward Ulq isn't a WTF moment for me. There's several instances in the earlier manga chapters (and believe me, the anime doesn't show them) where she not only seems as though she's getting comfortably accustomed to Ulq's presence as her guard, but something else is going on. She looks genuinely horrified when Grimmjow seals him in the caja negacion.

YMMV, or rather, Your Character Interpretation May Vary - I don't remember seeing anything of the sort between Orihime and Ulq. I've never seen any indication that she's comfortable with Ulq, let alone that "something else is going on." And I don't even watch the anime, I only read the manga.

I can understand Orihime and Ulquiorra's last moment as well, it's been carried out bits by bits in earlier chapter, I think. It's Ichigo that I can't stand in that chapter. It's not like him having his arms and legs tear off will get anything done, seriously.

Agreed to a certain extent. See, I've always viewed Ulquiorra as a big child. Causing fear and alarm and being a great big douche because it's all he's been told and shown. So, that's all he's gonna believe in. Then Orihime comes in and shows him something different and he's very confused about everything. He's basically Rain-man, just pale and murderous kind of. Hence I had no real issue with his ending. Nor with Orihime, apart from it beig incredibly cheezy that "oh she is so compassionate she cannot truly fear someone capable of human emotion". But as for Ishida and Ichigo's behaviour? A-fuckin-greed. That be bull, Kubo.

See, I wouldn't have minded it if a) Ulq hadn't been so very cruel (I mean, whatever his reasons, he's still an asshole), and/or b) Orihime hadn't reacted in such a gentle, compassionate etc. way. Okay, show him what a heart is or whatever, but could we please remember that this is the guy who killed Ichigo twice, once in front of her eyes, only minutes ago? And that he wouldn't have had any problems with killing Ishida, then Renji, Rukia, Chad, etc.?

And yeah, Ichigo and Ishida. What. WHY. (And all this after the character rape poor Ishida went through last time with Mayuri. I'm so sick of the way Kubo is treating Quincy boy. Really, I almost wish Ishida died, and he's my favorite character.)

Oh hells yes. Ulquiorra being cruel I don't really have a problem with, he can be a cruel, torturous asshole but still be ever so intrigued by this thing we hu-men call "emotions", because it's ever so new and ever so strange to him. That, I did not mind.

But if it had just been a little bit different... if say, Orihime ran to Ishida's side to heal him when the fight was over or at a standstill, it would have been a nice way to show Ulqui being surprised over the strength of the human heart, it would have been kind to poor old Ishida, it would have been BETTER OVERALL, and sure, then when Orihime is healing him she can turn to him and say that no, I don't fear you because I can never truly fear what I can understand etc, that sentiment I like and don't mind keeping. It would, in my opinion, have been so much better than leaving Ishida to bleed out and have Orihime look like she was on the verge of tears that the oh-so-noble and misunderstood Ulquiorra was about to die.

Yeah, I don't know where I got it from, but it's just... what strikes me about him. He's like a kid to me. A very eloquent, but still so very unsettled by something that goes against all the rules they've been taught, that they react with both fascination and disgust. They just GOTTA try and crush it because it's icky and wrong, but that this icky and wrong thing perseveres just makes it all the more alluring. If that makes sense to you.

That was really well said! I always lined him up with the FMA sins - they're like that partially because they were made/are that way, and also because they were raised that way, but they do have some slight shades of grey. Gluttony and how much he misses Lust comes to mind.
Ichigo's OOCness aside, I rather liked how things were wrapped up. I can't help but wonder how many people are going to be further po'd by 354 xD Oh well, I'm too busy frowning at Yammy...ugh, just die, Yammy.

It made me feel really annoyed and exasperated, but I'm not sure why you'd feel betrayed. The author never made a pact to write the manga the way we wanted it. That being said, I love the hilarious new dialogue in this secret. Much better writing.

I feel betrayed because the way the fight was set up and what with everything that happened, including Ichigo stabbing Ishida, I expected something really big and dramatic to happen. And then it suddenly ground to an incredibly anticlimatic, stupid and OOC halt. And I'm aware that this is stupid but I somehow feel betrayed on Ichigo, Orihime and Ishida's part. They didn't deserve this (as much as two-dimensional blots of ink can "deserve" anything, anyway; still, it was a spectacular case of an author treating his characters like crap).

Not to mention that I expected Orihime to finally be able to do something for Ichigo, but alas both she and Ichigo are back to square one. Fantastic writing, thank you, Kubo.

As for the icon... I believe it is official work with some fancy coloring thrown in. It was made by daisuke! If I remembered how to html usernames, I'd make her easier to look up.
