Re: What is and what is not your definition of 'fandom'?

My definition of "fandom" is a community of (one or more) people who love something so much they want to indulge in it past canon content, generally by making derivative works based on it (crafts, cosplay, fic, graphics, etc.) but can be things like collecting or discussing too. I agree that calling the community of McDonalds enthusiasts "fandom" is a bit of a stretch generally speaking, but there are characters, stories and even stuff like cartoons and games so... I can see how some people (oddly enough) could like these characters and stories. (for what it's worth I was into the Sega Genesis McDonalds game as a kid and even got a free Happy Meal because I drew what you'd call McDonalds fanart so maybe I was part of the fandom at some point, or maybe not since I was only in it for finantial reasons aka a Happy Meal lol.)
