What had the most unsatisfying endings to you? Any medium welcome!

Thinking of #7, I never really bought into the last 2 episodes of Angel.

angel never grabbed me but i tuned in from smile time onwards to the ending, and while some of it was silly and obviously rushed by the short notice of it being the last season i'd say with absolute certainty that it was still better than the ending of buffy

I didn't buy into a lot of the ending for Angel but 'I want to fight the dragon' is just fantastic to me. I love it.

How I Met Your Mother and Game of Thrones are the two worst. Hands down, no contest.

Mass Effect 3. While it didn't ruin the franchise for me, I can perfectly understand why it could.

Kingdom Hearts 3. The whole game doesn't make any sense. Doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it but when I found the game for €5 in a store I was like "figures".

Everyone dog-piles on it but the ending of GoT was really bad, I was thankfully emotionally checked out by that point but I still thought it was an awful way to finish the show.

A K-drama called Black that I enjoyed a lot... until the last episode undid the whole show in the worst attempt to get a 'happy ending' I've ever seen. I'm still so mad about this one because I actually LIKED the show, so the shitty ending really felt like a slap in the face.

Another other K-drama ending I was 'meh' on wasn't horribly awful or warped the story in on itself, but You Are My Spring's ending was very forgettable and honestly opened up a few plot-holes in the early episodes. It also made the fate of one character so horribly depressing that I didn't care for the main couples happiness at the end.

And I honestly didn't like the ending of the Harry Potter books, it felt too neatly tied up in a bow for my liking and personally I thought Harry should have been a teacher. But that's just my take on that.

I'm not a big fan of 'everyone marries their high school sweetheart immediately after school and stays with them forver,' so yeah to the Harry Potter thing.

Also. I do not buy Ron and Hermione as a couple. As friends, I can enjoy their dynamic. But they don't need to get married.

Wonder Egg Priority and Supernatural.

So weird how Supernatural just never got a final episode.

Wonder Woman. The fighting stopped when she killed Aries, but the whole point of her journey was learning that it was part of human nature, not Aries making people go to war.

Voyager. Let's make sure everyone is paired up at the end cause that means it's a happy ending! Even if those two characters barely interacted in the show at all! No.

Any episode of Escape to the Country in which they don't buy one of the three charming houses (that I would give my eye teeth for). Where's my emotional payoff?

My favourite is the episodes of the UK version of the show where they don't give you any follow-up at all. They show the people the 3 houses, ask them their opinions about each house, summarise their journey and then credits. Those ones are great. :p

Digimon season 2. Jesus fucking christ.

Years later, that’s still the ending that pisses me off the most.

An astronaut. A fucking astronaut

Any and all anime endings that feature a group of friends laughing together in the very last shot of a show that was hundreds of episodes long.

Anime tends to turn to shit slowly, but Ouran Host Club was the unfortunate exception. Where is my remake, guys?!

Most MCU films but right now I've got Black Panther on my mind. The ending splits into three: armies fighting on a grass field, cgi Panther suites wrestling in the mines and CIA guy shooting down a plane from the hospital. Aside from the disappointing graphics (almost certainly Disney's fault, not blaming the artists) and setting the climax of this advanced scifi country in a boring field my problem is all those endings are pointless. If T'Challa beats Killmonger the Boarder tribe will completely stand down, If Killmonger defeats T'Challa he's got the Dora Milage rebelling against him, ask a dozen Roman Emperors how that one turns out. But the cake is completely taken by shooting down the plane full of weapons. Oh my gosh it's so pointless. T'Challa can just order them back, or send his spies to return them quietly. If SOMEHOW Killmonger pulls out a victory he can just send another dozen planes. It tries to set up all of this conflict but none of it really holds its weight, I don't like it.

My ideal ending: the armies are duking it out in the city streets but then everybody stands down for the two heirs to fight for the throne because they realize that the king fight has the potential to render their battle superfluous and they're all smart and reasonable and cool. Martin Freeman's character never left South Korea.

Also Killmonger lives and goes to jail. We get to see a judicial system built around reformation instead of vengeance.

Kingmaker, both the CRPG and the original adventure path. In the computer game I found the final battle a little boring and the fates of some of my companions is a bummer. In the adventure path I feel like the too much is kept from the players so the ending comes out of no where.

I love this path but I make some edits for the final act.

There was an anime called Seikaisuru Kado and the ending/the last 3(?) Episodesthat made up the ending arc took everything that started out interesting, dumped it on the floor, pissed on it and set it on fire. It was almost as if the entire writing staff was replaced in the last third of the show.

Bleach. Also Afterschool Nightmare and Bunny Drop but those run for "worst ending"--they're unsatisfying but they're also wrongbad
awful.

Super unpopular opinion, I know, but I HAAAAATED The Good Place's ending so fucking much.

Also, Hawaii Five-0's ending was total bullshit.

And Lost, of course, and Dexter (though I haven't seen the recent new season) and the original Will & Grace ending (although I loved the second one).

Late to the party as usual, but I wasn't fond of The Good Place's ending, either. Aside from how depressing it was, I fundamentally disagree with the idea that having the option to essentially commit spiritual suicide is the one and only answer to all the problems that the people there were having with being mush-brained pleasure zombies, and having everyone immediately latch onto that idea without a single argument just didn't make sense at all. To be honest, it felt like a cop-out, and it just didn't hold up well compared to the high standards the rest of the series set.
