You'd be surprised how many abuse victims want their abuser to apologize. Everything may not be bygones afterwards, but it does seem to help. And maybe showing an abuser say sorry isn't just meant to inspire the abused to forgive them. Maybe it's meant to inspire the abuser to apologize. Abusers a lot of the time don't bother to apologize because they aren't sorry. Or, they think there's no point because their sorry won't matter anyway.
