(Anonymous) 2022-08-21 03:46 am (UTC)(link)I liked the movie as a very cheesy ‘80s fantasy action movie (young Courtney Cox and Robert Duncan McNeill, Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella chewing up the scenery), but as a He-Man movie (or Masters of the Universe movie), it was really weird for it to be mostly centered on two Earth teenagers, with He-Man and Skeletor more as side characters. It’s like if they had had the first Superman movie be about two random teenagers on Krypton, with Superman and, like, General Zod, time-traveling to fight it out around them. It’s not a terrible framing device or anything, just a really strange choice for a first live-action feature film.
