Well so like... Bond as a character comes out of an era where both (a) Britain believed that it was a major player in global geopolitics, and more specifically (b) the traditional British social elite effectively controlled British foreign and imperial affairs and thus by extension the British social elite believed it was a major player in global geopolitics. Bond is a character who, despite only marginally being part of that social elite, feels comfortable within it and is a representative of it. And it seems difficult to have a POC character who has that standing.

Sorry but I did mention that I am not American or British, so, are you telling me that NO ONE who was "only marginally" part of this social elite (in... mid 20th century, from what I googled) was multiracial or even tanned?

Because I mean, I know the UK (/US) is racist but wow.

AFAIK the only POC who would have been considered socially acceptable among the social elite would have been Indian princes. And even for them, I'm not sure they would have been accepted for foreign office or intelligence service work. It was a deeply racist and imperialist social milieu.

And to be clear, my point is not just about historical realism; if it was just a question of realism, it wouldn't matter a damn. The point is that being a representative of the British imperial upper-class elite is central to the concept of Bond, and so any good Bond actor should be able to represent that. That's what the "classy" part of Bond represents, effectively.

Thank you for kindly explaining! Swear I didn't get it at first, but now I do. It's this imperialist/nationalist kind of job done by someone who's marginally part of this elite, so it should be anyone representative of it and a non-white person playing the part wouldn't be convincing or historically accurate, got it. I am more... surprised that NO ONE in this British imperial upper-class elite in mid 1900s was even mixed, aside from Indian nobility who weren't likely to do foreign intel work anyway. I am ignorant of UK History (or foreign History, or History in general) so it surprised me.
