She sounds like a complete baddie and I want to watch this now. I love female leads becoming besties and not enemies.

Well, I've since finished the show and parts of the show were good, but it suffered from pacing a little and doesn't end as well as it starts. I still loved her character and her friendship with the FL, though. I also feel a little optimistic because as much as cdramas are plagued with terrible female characters and sexist stereotypes, I think there are people out there who are TRYING, dammit.

You might also like Stand By Me|Dream of Chang-an, where Xuan Lu plays a cool, manipulative, mastermind type and has A Lot of interesting stuff going on with the other female lead.

They're on opposite sides for a long time but they have that interesting 'you've seriously messed up my plans and of course I'm going to make sure your side loses but somehow I really like you so I'm going to save your life a couple of times' dynamic and things get warmer from there.

Was coming here to say exactly that. She was exceptionally good in Stand By Me/Dream of Chang'an! And I loved her relationship with the FL.
