Not any weirder than the rest of the week tbh

this whole week has been weird enough to make me wonder if it's time for me to stop visiting. I'd rather 8 secrets that make sense to 15 that are stupid.

Huh, I feel the exact opposite way. F!S goes for long stretches without any secrets on anything I'm interested in or even know. I had nothing to even comment on for ages. Lately it's made me laugh again, and had some secrets on shows I love. Each to their own I guess.

That's interesting. Personally, I'm enjoying the variety and have actually found myself commenting a lot more than I used to. Part of it is the unusual posting times this week, which just work better for me. But for the last two years or so the secrets have been sort of samey topic wise and nothing I had anything to contribute to (don't watch cdramas, don't watch Star Wars, stopped watching MCU after Age of Ultron, nothing to say about the JKR wank after the first few secrets).

The more varied and off the wall secrets allow for more engagement, at least for me.

Yeah same. The earlier posting time has been really great, and so has the greater variety of topics and shows covered.

Yeah, starting to think we have new trolls, but if that's what's going on, at least they're making an effort. Not just nonstop bigotry in myriad new, old, and exhausting permutations.

Personally I was holding out for more octopus.

I see one in there today. Subtly.

I think another mass secret-maker has entered the game and it's definitely livening up the place even if some of them feel made up for entertainment purposes.

I think it's several people, who know each other and are having fun submitting some with linked themes. Like, the octopus and the sheep, or who can make the best secret with a "spirit worker" theme, etc.

Mostly I think this because the secret count has gone up so much, there have been comments refering to "the Collective", and a loooong time ago in the early days of F!S on LJ, I was in a small LJ community of friends who used to do this kind of thing on F!S. But usually only 6 or 8 secrets a week between us, we were never anywhere near this active. (I can't remember what it was called, except it had "hams" in the name.)

Anyhow. I'm fine with silly trolls, it's better than the bigots and people constantly winding up wank about Star Trek: Discovery, and FFN vs AO3. I've found this last couple of weeks a lot of fun.

The Buffy (especially the Wesley ones) have got to be planned out right?

The Wesley ones have to be the same person, or planned, yeah. I don't remember an increase in general Buffy ones, but I'm probably forgetting some.

Of today, only 5 or 6 strike me as invented to troll, depending what you count as trolling (like, 1 and 7 are wanky, idk if that counts). And there are a couple where I don't know the show so I can't tell if they make any sense.

Not necessarily. I mean they totally could be, but I'm one of the Pedro Pascal thirst anons, and I was not in cahoots or synchronized with any other anons who suddenly got hit with the thirst train.

Honestly, I'm enjoying it. Even if some of them are just troll secrets this past week or so, the community is at least active and we've had some good discussions.

I noticed alot of the secrets from the past few days have been barely comprehensible, but it's funny as hell to see all the nonsense people come up with, so I've been good with it.

I enjoy surrealism and absurdity, and a whole lot of secrets lately have made me LOL. Also it's not like there's a limit to the number of secrets a day. If the batshit ones were keeping out real ones, it'd be different. Instead, there's just more variety, which opens up more areas where people can discuss things. And some of the threads have been hilarious.

Also it's really hard to know what a troll even is here, where all secrets are seeking a reaction. Like, the reincarnation ones and so on are clearly trolling, but lust for weird characters is common.

Anyway. It's made me spend more time hanging out in the comments, because there's been far more going on, and some commenters can be pretty witty at times.

It's almost like old times. F!S used to be this buckwild on a regular basis. Something Awful forums had a long-standing thread pointing out the top most deranged secrets every day. God those were fun times.

Yeah, but those were like... actual secrets, not one person doing a limp-dick impression of an ARG. It's like they can't stand that we still talk about tar season, so they're trying to force the meme.

Which from the last weeks have sounded anything like they were trying to sound like tar season?

Also it's kind of absurd to think one person could double the number of secrets on their own. There have been a lot more real secrets lately too, plus a handful of weird ones a day.

I'm enjoying our new batch of trolls. More creative than the usual drama mongering and wank.
