I've read the comics too and thought it was a great adaptation. I actually liked the diner episode more than the comic version as I thought the normality of live-action Dee made him more frightening.

+1

Also David Thewlis is a phenomenal actor which helps.

I have my reservations but it's a great adaptation overall.

David Thewlis knocked that one out of the park. Just amazing. Not least because there are moments when you sympathize with him deeply.

+2 same
Comically grotesque Dee does nothing for me

Anyway, even if adaptation haven't toned down all the violence I don't think that it can evoke same reaction as comics that I've read at least 10 years ago, probably more. IMHO but people complaining about Sandman TV not being as impactful is a bit weird for me. Yeah, it's not going to impact you the same way, it impacted you already.

I like the way some things hit differently for a comics reader.

I was on pins and needles and in agony during that whole long drive with Rosemary, and almost had a eucatastrophe-gasm when it did not end the same way.

For some reason 24/7 wasn't ever a part I remember well, but the whole Calliope episode made me chew my clothes. I was so happy not to see graphic rape scene
