There are some great PWPs out there of the "I really, really hate you, but you are really hot and I really need to fuck you" variety. And they still remain enemies, they just also want to fuck each other.

Usually works best when the characters hate each other but are at least vaguely on the same side.

+1 I think what I like is not so much "enemies to lovers" as "enemies who are still enemies but sometimes they fuck."
