As someone who used grown up Hermione as the fandom bicycle... I'm very glad I did not encounter the fic you are suggesting, but considering canon, I can see how that might have gotten really fucked up. (I was Draco/Hermione reader at first, then moved toward the other possibilities of grown up Hermione who hasn't seen Lucius in a long while, or has been growing closer to Remus or Sirius, both of whom never died/came back from the veil).

I think one of the first fics I ever read that was dark enough to leave me feeling empty was an HP fic featuring Scabior.
