It's totally okay to not like it. As an adult, I enjoy a wide range of music on occasion but the soundtrack to my life is metal, with a touch of hard rock when I'm feeling nostalgic. My kids (now in their 20's) grew up surrounded by music. My daughter now defaults to heavier stuff than I care for, but she also enjoys Rhianna and Lady Gaga. My son struggles to find new music he likes. He prefers heavy metal, both industrial and electronic, but deep, angry, harsh male voices trigger his lingering PTSD and androphobia. (Their father was abusive and he was 11 before I managed to get us out.) So he seeks out female led bands, which are harder to come by. He often defaults to instrumental metal without vocals at all, for that reason.

My point. Not your thing, no problem. But flat, dull, boring? That's not the music, that's you. Metal is some of the most dynamic and diverse music out there.
