That’s when Americans talk about things being different in parts of the world they've never been to. When people who are actually from those parts of the world and complain about Americans assuming everything is the same as in the US of A, it's usually about things like garbage disposals or credit scores, or differing Christmas traditions, or the fact that thanksgiving is not a thing on other continents.

You need to grow a thicker skin if Americans talking about credit scores offends you. Why not just be smug and brag about how you don't have to worry about that because your country doesn't have such capitalist barbarism?

Since this is fandomsecrets, my assumption is that we're talking about fandom discussio s. So it's less someone talking about how THEY have to worry about credit scores and more that they're coming into a fandom discussion to say that actually this character probably hasn't been building a good credit score so they can do XYZ, when the character is from a country that doesn't have that kind of a credit score system.
