Now I'm kind of dying to know what people are saying... Like, are they forming opinions without watching ANY of it? Because like, even in the first episode it's sweet (yes Chise has a traumatic past but her interactions with her 'new' home/family are not).

I think it's the usual anti bs. She's under-age, they have a huge age gap (not that they ever have sex!), he buys her as a slave, blah blah etc. So no they probably haven't watched any of it!

tbh I was pretty surprised at how sweet it was compared to my first impression of the title/picture. 'The Ancient Magnus's Bride' is kind of indicative of a huge age gap, there's a weird monster paired with the girl, and something about the phrasing of the title didn't make me really feel that the girl had a choice in being this Ancient Magnus's bride. IDEK. I mean, I still watched it, but yeah, I went in kind of dubiously.

For me, it's the whole thing with Elias willing to kill Chise's friend. IDK, it's pretty fucked up. I think it's good storytelling and I liked it, but it a dark, screwed up thing. I wouldn't characterize their entire relationship as romantic and sweet, though they certainly have their moments.
