Notes:
I'm going to just be deleting some of these that are getting spammy. Like random image + song lyrics. Or random images with phrases that make no sense. I'm also just not going to post anything where the majority of the text is in a language other than English (like c'mon, there's "controversial but theoretically plausible opinion" to toss in for fun reactions and then there's "I have no idea what 90% of this says/is supposed to mean"), or secrets praising themselves for making these secrets (?).
If some of your images don't show up this week, that's probably what happened to them.

He does have nice eyes, though.

(Anonymous) 2022-08-30 01:04 am (UTC)(link)In this particular picture I don't like how they styled his hair. Did him dirty. But I hope he's good in it. Agreed on the eyes. Kinda.

I have enjoyed his performance, though it's very stylized, as one might imagine. I've never seen the actor in anything else.

(Anonymous) 2022-08-30 03:05 am (UTC)(link)Having not read the graphic novel, I'm finding it really difficult to form an opinion on the show. Like, it's not bad, but there's just a lot of it that feels vaguely off to me--just not wholly convincing, and I'm never sure how much of that to attribute to the comic and how much to attribute to the show.
Morpheus in particular is tough, because on the one hand, I get the sense that he's meant to be a flawed protagonist, and we're meant to question his character--yet I still feel like I'm less captivated by him (and more exasperated by him) than I'm supposed to be. And I'm not sure if that's because they were shooting for Dark Surreal God-Prince Of Mystery and accidentally hit Sulky Emo Vampire Model instead. Or if the real problem is simply that the character type is dated. It's 2022 and brooding, ethically ambiguous heroes who know more than everyone around them and never communicate are very out of fashion right now, after pop culture's absolute obsession with them in the 00s and early 2010's.

(Anonymous) 2022-08-30 05:54 am (UTC)(link)There's a prequel comic (which is chock full of spoilers for the end of the main comics) that takes place between his trying to unmake the Corinthian the first time and getting captured in the bubble (which explains why he's naked under the cloak and all beat up looking when he's captured when he set off wearing clothes) where he meets hundreds of iterations of Dream of the Endless from different galaxies, times, etc and asks "Am I always like this?" ... "Self satisfied. Irritating. Self-possessed, and unwilling to concede center stage to anyone but myself."
Another Dream (which is also Dream) answers "I believe so, yes. In my experience."
He replies "Ah. Fascinating," while looking extremely pained.
And this is before the show and the aftermath of his imprisonment, when he starts really realizing (and having it forcefully pointed out) just how much he needs to change and how much of an asshole he's been.
But yeah; he was part of but also kind of making a point of examining the "dark and broody protagonist" thing that took over comics in the 80s, and he feels dated now because Broody McManpains were absolutely everywhere for awhile.
At least other characters call him on his shit. And... hmm. I won't say he doesn't realize he has to change, but he's scared to and not sure he can and still be able to be Dream of the Endless. Which is why the series ends how it does.
I'd say you're supposed to find him frustrating while also feeling sorry for him. Unlike so many similar characters at the time and their later imitators, you're not meant to glorify him, and his being unwilling and unable to communicate is clearly shown as a negative trait with nasty consequences for him.
