I have never seen a James Bond movie and probably never will unless he is played by someone I am attracted to like Idris Elba.

I think Idris Elba is too old to play Bond now.

Idris Elba is almost 50. Daniel Craig was 53 in his last Bond movie, Sean Connery was 53 in his last Bond movie, and Roger Moore was 56 in his last Bond movie. So, they could still get a couple of Bond movies in the next five years, and he still wouldn't be the oldest.

NAYRT but... all of those guys were probably too old to play Bond in their last movies, so this isn't really a very compelling argument to me

They're too old to play the character they played? How does that work?

Pretty much everyone agrees Connery and Moore were too old in their last movies. But the point is also, those were their last Bond movies. They were cast when they were younger, so they had the time to make a bunch of films.

Idris Elba would have been a great choice 5 or 10 years ago, I agree.

Both Connery and Moore flat out said in interviews that they felt they were too old in the last movies, but they were young enough to want the money.

Their last movies were notably weak in large part because of the age of the actors at the time.

I mean I guess but the point is as an American I’m neither spited, slighted, or otherwise incensed by any of this. I would only care if James Bond was played by someone I’m attracted to. And probably only enough to catch the movie on 123movies or smth.
