I’d imagine different people are often making those different comments… plenty of people do just want to see the same formula again and come out with unreasonably harsh criticisms whenever there’s something different. Plus, even if someone was actually looking forward to the premise of a show/movie, that doesn’t mean they have to love the execution when it comes out. It’s rare for someone who likes a genre to be a fan of every example from that genre, isn’t it? So I don’t think it’s necessarily hypocritical of MCU fans to both express interest in new stories and not be a fan of certain new stories they’ve gotten!
