Ugh, this so much. Two characters having a close relationship or having grown up knowing each other is not the same thing as being siblings! The only time it's like siblings is when they actually think of each other as siblings (as is the case in one of my fandoms where the two unrelated by blood characters refer to each other as "brother" and "sister").
