One, people love Tom Cruise, even normal non Scientologist people. I don't get it but they do.

Two, people are hungry for good old fashioned non-Marvel blockbusters, and they don't make hardly any of those now, so people will take it where they can get it.

People want to have a good time at the movies and not get buried under shitty CGI, ironic quips, and lore that you need to watch three seasons of streaming TV and read a fan wiki to keep up with.

O hai, Marvel hating anon. Have you considered not making everything about your Marvel hating obsession?

This, this annnd this

yeah, this

scientologist cruise is clearly a bellend but he never half-arses a role and might be the last Movie Star left - he's the highest grossing actor to have never done a marvel movie, he can sell a billion on his own without the backing of a megafranchise (mission impossible is not on marvel's scale)

Cruise *is* the Mission Impossible franchise.

ironically, tom cruise was on the shortlist to play iron man and i've heard rumors that he was supposed to appear in either no way home or multiverse of madness as an alt universe tony stark.
