Many of the pretty boy actors have done the same, played manly man roles in various propaganda dramas. Xiao Zhan was in Ace Troops, Yang Yang in China Special Forces, Gong Jun was a firefighter in some drama, etc, the list is very long. I don't mind it if that keeps them off the radar in regards to bans and censorship troubles.
