Why the fuck not? He's been Charles to the tabloids, media and public for SEVENTY-FUCKING-FOUR YEARS, it would be weird if he chose Ethelred III or some dumb shit.

It's so funny because there are so, so much worse people in power all over the world right now to rightfully froth at the mouth over. Charles (and yes, Elizabeth too) are not even in the top 50.

His handling of the Exclusion Crisis and religious stuff towards the end of his reign was probably not the best tbh

True. Everything else was pretty good though, and he and James (who really was a disaster) fought the Great Fire in person. Also, he was a party king.
