I've never played Genshin, so I thought for a minute there was actual hunting for literal whales in the game.

And then I remembered I've worked in mobile games and what whales are and man, I have seen some grotesque numbers spent on the wildest shit. You have my bow, OP.

And before someone accuses me of just being envious... I mean, hell yes I'm envious that some people have the means to dump thousands of dollars into a game. I'd like to have this much random money lying around as well (though I probably wouldn't dump it into GI considering once the game goes offline one day, everything you paid for is gone along with it). That's definitely part of my annoyance, though not the entire reason.

People get too hung up on “perfect” artifacts and then whine about how the game “forces” them to grind for artifacts when really…they’re just doing it to themselves.

Yeah, they're using the well-researched psychological tactics used by casinos, but they're available to everyone, all the time, everywhere. I think gacha games that use real currency in any way should be banned, or at the very least legally restricted in the same way slot machines are.

I'm cool with. I have the money but my money spending anxieties prevent me from spending 'unnecessarily'. Entering my card digits is really stressful for me. So I'm rich and completely f2p Genshin player. I love my fancy whale Genshin friends skins and builds.
