You can't go wrong with a masked man in a cloak who kidnaps you for great justice.

I hope the inspiration you take is spiritual rather than literal, Nonny!

I also had an obsession with V when the movie came out.

great film

TERRIBLE adaptation of the work of alan moore

but still great film

Honestly, I don't think it's even that bad of an adaptation, in retrospect, given the constraints of the format.

I think it's mostly because they took a graphic novel informed by the UK under Thatcher and the risk of nuclear holocaust and made it about Bush II's post 9/11 America. And also not overtly anarchist.

But I do love the film, maybe as much as the GN because unlike Thatcher's Britain I lived through the Bush years.

Alan Moore was cursed to only have bad adaptations and I'm so glad.

(Anonymous) 2022-09-11 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
It's because his writing style tends towards the intrinsically unadaptable

Having seen the movie long before I read the graphic novel, I like both. I think I prefer the movie, though I don't necessarily think the movie is better. It's definitely less uncomfortable, which can be seen as a mark in its favor or a mark solidly against it, depending on your perspective.
