If you are using the words distinctly and not just using them to describe essentially equivalent behaviors. Then it can be like the difference between assertive and aggressive. One is generally okay, though not always, and the other can be a trial for others to deal with. Now, if you're only displaying your obsession in your spaces and other appropriate forums, I have no issues with that. If you hijack other discussions just to talk about your obsession or your obsession has warped your view of reality (aka you've become a tinhatter), then I do think there is a problem.

I think of it as more about internal states of mind. I don't personally associate obsession with aggressiveness or hijacking other discussions, etc. I agree those are bad behaviours... I guess I find people do that out of passion as much as obsession (so far as we can judge a stranger's inner state). (And becoming a delusional tinhatter is a whole level beyond, and yes, yikes at those people.)
