There's no one 'right' way to do fandom (there are absolutely some wrong ways, but those involve being an asshole to others). The problem here is that this is making you unhappy. So, something has to change, and I think maybe the best change for you to make is to stop comparing yourself to these others in fandom. What works for them doesn't work for you, and that's okay.
