I liked all three and I definitely likes how the first three epsiodes go into how the major three races are doing. I do feel you on 2, in that there was some really lovely character work with Elrond and Durin. It felt lived in in a way I think fantasy shows often don't do well (in fact it felt more lived in than Numenor). The harfoots feel the same way, lived in.
