The two movies I was looking most forward to were Shazam 2 and Aquaman 2 and of course those are the two that keep getting kicked around on the schedule. Ugh.

With Aquaman 2 it is at least understandable, given the cast, but with Shazam they are setting themselves up for a New Mutants situation where they can't do any vital reshoots, have nixed any chance of further sequels, and will struggle to place the actors on the press promotion circuit. Maybe DC is just really badly led?

DA - Warner/DC is definitely a dumpster-fire of a megacorp right now. I don't expect much from them, which means they're kind of like Tumblr in a way. They're too broken and useless to do all the stuff I hate about the MCU so when something works it works *really* well.

Tbh I've actually enjoyed the recent crop of DC movies(bar WW 1982) more than the current Marvel ones, it's not as if they're better movies but to me DC feel like they're having more fun with themselves while Marvel have hit a formulaic rut that makes every film feel samey and honestly just kind of dull even when they shouldn't be.

I can't say I'm overly excited about any new Marvel project at this point.

I'm still mostly all-in on the MCU and still have no interest in the DCU other than Aquaman. But I do have to say that Thor 4 was a little disappointing. I liked it, but Ragnarok was just so good. And I was expecting another masterpiece. And it wasn't that. It was good, but it wasn't amazing.

Yeah, I think Taika works best when he's got something to kick against - as soon as he's given the reins and told to go for it, he gets a bit lost.

He needs a strong studio oversight, someone to just rein in his worst tendencies and to force him to do stuff he wouldn't otherwise do. His Hitler in JoJo Rabbit was the result of the studio insisting he play the character himself, for example, and that is pretty much why it worked.

I watched the first Shazam for the first time back in January because I have a crush on an actor in Black Adam and I was like, "Well, I gotta see this movie for my guy, so let me get the backstory." And I ADORED it?!? Maybe because I wasn't expecting a lot, but I freakin' loved Shazam. I'm not into any other DCEU stuff at the moment (RIP to my all-time favorite girl, Barbara Gordon), but I'm definitely ready for the sequel and BA.

I can relate to this, especially the part about feeling thoroughly burnt out--to the point that it's starting to be closer to disillusioned--with the MCU. And then I (to my complete surprise) ended up loving The Batman a lot. That was the point where it really sunk in that the era of self-identifying as an MCU fan is apparently well and truly over for me. And I'm kinda sad about it. The MCU up to Endgame had its missteps, sure, but I have a lot of respect for what they managed to create, and I remember being genuinely in awe of the scope and the overall quality of the entire endeavor, as recently as 2019.

2019, which simultaneously feels like last year and a decade ago. *winces*

Man, I was disappointed in Love & Thunder. It was funny in parts, but meh. I have heard good things about Shazam tho so maybe I should give it a try

Honestly, I'm just not keen on Taika Waititi and the Thor IP combo, full stop. I don't dislike him as a creative force, though he's not always my cup of tea, but his contribution just doesn't work as well as the more classical theatre-influence did in the original Thor movie.

I just don't like the joke.
