I bloody love that movie. I wouldn't call it a "comfort watch" - some parts, quite the opposite!! - but even though it'll never be as good as the first time I saw it, I have watched it numerous times. Page and Wilson are both amazing in it.

This movie shows graphic torture and both people are kinda horrible. And I just can't fathom wanting to watch torture.

(Btw: The creators confirmed that Paige 's character could be read as choosing someone socially acceptable to take their sadism out on.)

Initially my thought was just "this sounds like the kind of thing an an anti would like."

But then after I said it I was like "meh that's dumb. You can't judge why a person is comforted by something"

Bad things happening to a bad person, yeah, that can be pretty reasonable as a comfort watch. Though my tolerance for blood/pain is not great, so I'm never going to watch it again. Also both actors are great.

I definitely don't find Hard Candy comforting, but it IS really good.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (Fincher version) is one of my top comfort movies, and it involves one of the protagonists being violently (and fairly graphically) raped, and the other protagonist being (briefly) tortured by a serial killer who admits to getting off on it sexually. Soooo yeah, I get having a comfort movie that is full of dark shit.

My comfort watch is Sleepers, the movie where Kevin Bacon and a bunch of other grown men assault underage boys in Juvie so I feel ya OP.
