Depends on the genre you read. It's also a gamble. YA books will definitely not contain explicit sex scenes (although there are some that come close, it's just "R-rated instead of NC-17 and would have to be toned down or removed for the teen movie adaptation" close.) but adult books might every so often and I understand why some people who hate explicit sex scenes would just not wanna bother.
