Does your family business offer a comparable wage and benefits? Do you own a share of the family business and have that documented legally? Or do your parents expect you to work for free/way less than what they'd have to pay for a non family member?

A lot of small family businesses rely on cheap or free labor from relatives, and that's not really a good plan. It's also incredibly unfair to the kids who have to work for less than a living wage, but lack the rights and protections of an official employee. But parents frequently expect them to make these kinds of sacrifices and get angry when that doesn't happen.
