TRAITOR!!!!

lol but also, that just feels weird. Like... I don't know. There's a difference between showing an actor you like (regardless of how small the fandom is) a drawing you did of them (say a portrait, or maybe a poem about their character) vs a NSFW drawing or a smutty one-shot featuring their character or them (RPF). It's just a line too far, personally.

And frankly, it's akin to having them read tabloids about themselves. And creep on the populace. So now who's creepier? The people making secrets about them? Or the person lurking watching secrets being made about them? Very voyeuristic situation we've got ourselves here. I just like this place to keep it cool. Ya know? Like... it's a little weird. BUUUUTTTTTTT this is the internet, and this is more or less a public forum, so who knows who's watching anyway.

No one's doing that, though.

I meant it as a comparison. I could have worded it better. What I mean is that (to me) showing actors/creators/what have you fan forum spaces is akin to revealing the kinds of things I feel cross the line. I'm sure the famous person is well aware such fandom spaces exist (old school fan pages, Instagram pages dedicated to them, etc.) Where fans interact with each other and discuss the person in question. I don't know if they lurk there, perhaps, I'd it's a public forum they can. But it's another thing to purposefully show them "hey, this is my famous person Tumblr fan page. It's got 4.3k followers!". I guess what I'm trying to say is that I personally prefer to keep fan spaces for fans, not introducing the famous people (who if introduced, have a mind to stay anonymous/low or just observe, whatever really) and OP showing this person (who's only had one secret made about them) a space where there is a possibility where someone could make a thirst secret for them or recommend smut featuring them, I mean, do you follow my train of thought?

Obviously, OP can do whatever they want. We don't know if the actor (or creator or whoever) in question bothered checking this site -- maybe they did and enjoyed it and stick around! Who knows! I just like keeping the spaces separated. But, as many upthread have said, that line has been drawn and redrawn and erased numerous times (I mean people tweet thirst posts at their faves on twitter, interact with them on Tumblr or Twitter or in other fandom heavy spaces). This place just felt sort of away from the larger fandom spaces? And to that extent, a bit of respite from the otherwise tempestuous seas of fandom at large.

I'm not sure if I'm making sense anymore lol it's late where I'm at. Anyway, I hope I expressed myself.

I think you're making perfect sense.

Though, the secret doesn't say showing the person F!S, just telling them it exists. Although, someone can be a subject/object of fandom, and be in things, without being what most people would call famous. I really, strongly doubt the average actor is going to be at all interested in looking up our little community, let alone regularly reading it!

I used to know a couple of famous people (famous enough they've both had secrets about them here in the last year), but it wouldn't have occurred to me to talk about F!S to them, not the kind of thing that would have come up in our conversations. But if for some reason I had, I can't imagine they'd ever have gone and looked it up. (OP commented saying the person was a personal friend - I agree with people who've said telling some actor about F!S at a con would be fucked up, mostly because it's super cringe.)

You make a good point! It's a relatively small comm, etc. I think that a part of me always just has the niggling feeling that someone else finds it fascinating to observe microcosms such as this one. I mean look at the thread in the general comments about following/watching drama about things you aren't familiar with. So part of me always wonders if they'd actually stick around (and I say this as someone who enjoys finding random blogs and reading a few entries of someone's life, that they decided to share with the world, before moving on). Anyhow, you're likely right about it.

Now I'm curious as to how it came up in conversation with OP and their friend! OP, if you see this, please note I don't think you're actually a traitor (hence the lol/jk).
